About Me

Atlanta, GA, United States
Born and raised on Manhattan's upper Westside with psychoanalysis as our religion & the Broadway theater as our church... Mom was a professional musician with "Phil Spitalny and His All-Girl Orchestra," the model for "SOME LIKE IT HOT." She slapped the bass! Daddy came to NYC to be an opera singer. Instead, he became an architect, carving out his niche as the creator of "wedding palaces!" Like my parents, I married someone totally different from myself & when we celebrate our wedding anniversary, no one is more stunned & delighted than we are! We have 2 married sons enjoying their diverse careers. We share our dream home with a cat and a retired racing greyhound. Jim continues his "ultra" running and I continue pumping iron. Life is good.

"Mortage Bonfire" is INVESTIGATIVE Reporting You Won't Forget!

"THE RECKONING" series has been ongoing in the New York TIMES for months, offering up riveting, dramatic, illuminating investigative reporting.

This particular article will show you why it's MUST reading:

[Sun., Dec. 21, 2008, page 1]

Check out,"THE RECKONING" for investigative excellence!

The Reckoning:
On the front page of the Sunday, New York Times Dec. 21st issue, under a large, color photo of a grinning Pres. George W. Bush, I read a headline that grabbed my attention:
"White House Philosophy Stoked Mortgage Bonfire."

I read the first graph plus the next sentence and was hooked on a story that gave me the most comprehensive AND rivetingly dramatic exposition of the current mortgage meltdown:

"The global financial system was teetering on the edge of collapse
when President Bush and his economics team huddled in the Roosevelt Room of the White House for a briefing that, in the words of one participant,
'scared the hell out of everybody.'
It was Sept. 18."

I read it to the very last sentence. I think you will, too.

Turns out, though, this brilliant journalistic accomplishment was part of an ongoing series at the NY Times:

"The Reckoning."

Click on < "The Reckoning" > to see all the titles in the series and, I hope, read the one I started with on the "Mortgage Bonfire."
